There is just the shows you adore, the one you like, the one you don’t care about and the one you don’t like and that doesn’t involve anybody else.
Believe me, I love Breaking Bad to death, it will always be superior to anything in my mind ; do it makes me enjoy The Walking Dead less? Hell no! And it’s coming from someone who was pissed of by TWD being more popular than BB one month ago (yes, this is a mea culpa).
You know what? I get that TWD has more viewers and it doesn’t mean it’s a bad show and those viewers are just too dumb to comprehend BB. I couldn’t care less that the little oligarchy of critics doesn’t think it’s good. I think is good and I think it can be highly philosophical and an amazing story about human nature (I couldn’t care less about the zombies, really). Do I think BB is more powerful? I do?. Do I think BB is more intelligent? I don’t. I think they both have their own ways of telling the same story : human rationalization, human nature in it’s purest form, etc.
Of course seeing BB constantly acclaimed is making me proud (and it’s so deserved) but it doesn’t diminished in any ways the love I have for TWD (and believe me, we got off on the wrong foot, TWD and I).
Well, maybe I’m just weird because, apparently, while most of the viewers were thrilled with the start of the show (TWD I mean) and felt let down after a while, I wasn’t excited one bit by the first to episodes but with each new ones I’m getting more and more sucked in and “holly shit that’s A-MA-ZING”! Which brings me back to my first thought :
let’s just stop fighting. We all have our opinions, our preferences and I’m getting to the point where I wonder if “quality” isn’t just a really personal feeling (well, you know, except when, really, it’s not quality).
Breaking Bad I 102 I The Cat’s in the Bag
What is his reputation for violence?
Well… Hum… He did try to kill us both yesterday, so, there is that!
Hell Yeah!
I love when BB is getting recognition for it’s A-MA-ZING writing.
